Henry Scott Tuke

Beautiful paintings by Henry Scott Tuke of bathers set in the coves around Falmouth. This one the critics shows a wonderful sensitivity to light.

Cafe Colombo in Rio

Another cafe to add to favourite coffee places. This ornate mirrored cafe in central Rio is definitely one not to be missed.

Fayyum Mummy Portraits

One of my favourite parts of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the Fayyum Mummy Portraits collection. The dry desert air of Egypt preserved a collection of encaustic portraits of men and women, which were originally placed over their mummified faces on their sarcophagi. These date between the first and third centuries AD.. They are beautifully produced and have a haunting feeling to them as they look out at you from centuries past.
